From 4 Inches to 14 Inches – Insulation Upgrade Using Blown In Fiberglass in 1200 Sq. Ft. Home in Clovis, CA

Marjorie contacted Tyson in search of a resolution to her hot, stuffy home and high cooling and heating costs. She said that she felt as though her HVAC system was running constantly during summer and winter. We came out and inspected her attic and discovered the cause. Her attic had only about 4 inches of insulation present. We determined that an insulation upgrade was needed to help Marjorie achieve her goals.

We began by air-sealing visible leakage points with closed-cell foam to help prevent air from traveling between the attic and living spaces of the home. We then blew in about 10 inches of premium, fiberglass insulation. Adding this insulation brought the home up to an R38 level, which si the Energy Star recommendation for our climate.

As a result of the upgrade, Marjorie and her family will experience a cool home in the summer, a warm home in winter, and lower HVAC usage by up to 30% for the life of her home.
