Full Attic Restoration with Removal, Sanitization, Air Sealing, and Blown In Fiberglass Installation in Fresno, CA

Rudy contacted us because his home was hot and stuffy during the summer and frigid during the winter. He was also concerned about the presence of rodents in his attic. We came out and inspected the attic and found that there was about 6-7 inches of old, dirty insulation present. In many places in the attic, the attic floor was even bare. In addition, we found evidence of rodent activity, including rodent droppings. We determined that Rudy was best served by a comprehensive attic restoration.

We began by vacuuming out all of the old, contaminated insulation and cleaning and sanitizing the attic. We then meticulously identified air leakage points and air-sealed them using closed-cell foam. This included all top plates, registers, recessed lights, and plumbing and wiring penetrations. This is done to prevent airflow between the attic and home’s living spaces. We also installed rodent-proof barriers to prevent rodents and other pests from entering the attic. Lastly, we blew in 14 inches of premium, fiberglass insulation, bringing the attic up to an R38 level as recommended by Energy Star.

As a result of the work we did, Rudy and his family will enjoy a number of benefits: a cool, comfortable home in summer, a warm home in winter, better indoor air quality and less dust, and reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50% for as long as they live in the home.
