R49 Insulation Upgrade to 16 Inches of Blown In Fiberglass in Merced, CA

Gary learned about Tyson Energy Solutions at the Fresno Home Show and was interested in making his home more comfortable and energy efficient. Gary said that his heating and cooling bills were high and his home was chilly during the winter and hot and stuffy during the summer. We came out and inspected Gary’s attic and discovered that his attic only had 8 inches of insulation present, which is well below the R38 level recommended by Energy Star. Gary decided to upgrade his attic to R49 and we performed an insulation upgrade.

We began by air-sealing visible leakage points. We then blew in an additional 8 inches of premium fiberglass insulation.

As a result of the insulation upgrade, Gary and his family will experience a cooler, more comfortable home in summer, a warmer home in winter, and reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 25% for as long as they live in their home.
