Upgrading Attic Insulation to R38 for Better Energy Efficiency in Clovis, CA

Tanya reached out to us because her home in Clovis was struggling to maintain a comfortable temperature. No matter how often she adjusted her thermostat, her house remained warm in the summer and chilly in the winter. After inspecting her attic, we found the culprit: only 4 inches of aging cellulose insulation. This insufficient insulation was allowing conditioned air to escape, forcing her HVAC system to work overtime and driving up her energy bills.

To resolve the issue, we started by removing the old, ineffective cellulose insulation. Once the attic was clear, we thoroughly air-sealed all gaps, cracks, and penetrations with closed-cell foam to prevent unwanted airflow between the attic and Tanya’s living space. This step significantly improves energy efficiency by keeping conditioned air inside where it belongs.

Next, we installed a fresh layer of high-quality blown-in fiberglass insulation, bringing her attic up to an R38 level—the recommended standard for optimal thermal performance. This upgrade will help keep Tanya’s home cool during Clovis’ scorching summers and warm throughout the colder months, all while lowering her heating and cooling costs.

Thanks to this insulation upgrade, Tanya will enjoy improved indoor comfort, better energy efficiency, and reduced utility bills for years to come.
