Comprehensive Attic Restoration – Removal, Air-Sealing, Installation to R38 in 1900 Sq. Ft. Home in Visalia, CA

LuLu contacted us because her home was constantly hot and uncomfortable despite the fact that she ran her air conditioner constantly. As a result of her high HVAC usage, her cooling costs were extremely high. When we inspected her attic, we found that she only had about 5-6 inches of old, dirty insulation present. Since the insulation was so dirty, we knew that there was significant air leakage occurring. In order to make her home more comfortable and also reduce her cooling costs, we determined that a full attic restoration was needed.

We began by sucking out all of the old insulation. We then cleaned and sanitized the whole attic using DSV sanitizer in order to eliminate contaminants and irritants. Next, we located potential rodent entry points and installed barriers to prevent them from entering the attic. At the same time, we also meticulously air-sealed potential leakage points to prevent the air from traveling between the living spaces of the home and the attic. Lastly, we blew in new, fiberglass insulation to a level of R38, or 14 inches.

As a result of the attic restoration, LuLu will experience better indoor air quality, reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50%, and a more temperate, comfortable home year-round for the life of her house.
