Insulation Upgrade from 3 Inches to 14 Inches with Blown In Fiberglass Insulation in Clovis, CA

The homeowner contacted us because his house was extremely hot — up to 84 degrees — despite the fact that his air conditioner was running constantly. When we came out and inspected his attic, we found that his insulation was low, only about 3 inches. Because he was concerned about the temperature as well as his summer energy bills becoming unmanageable, we determined an insulation upgrade was the best course of action.

We began by air-sealing visible air leakage points with closed-cell foam. This helps to prevent air from traveling between the attic and the living spaces of the home. Then, we blew in Johns Manville premium, fiberglass insulation to a depth of 14 inches to bring the attic up to the Energy Star-recommended R38 protection.

As a result of the insulation upgrade, the homeowner and his family get to enjoy a more comfortable home, reduced heating and cooling costs year-round, and an HVAC system that is able to run more efficiently for as long as they live in their home.
