Insulation Upgrade to R38 — 14 Inches of Blown In Fiberglass Insulation in Fresno, CA

The homeowner contacted Tyson Energy Solutions because she felt as though her home could never stay cool. Her air conditioner turned on and off frequently, and it was causing her cooling bills to be high. She believed the issue was with her insulation. When we came and inspected her attic, we confirmed this to be true. She only had about three inches of insulation present, as well as lots of old roofing debris scattered throughout the attic. We determined that to help her house retain its conditioned air and reduce her cooling costs, an insulation upgrade was needed.

We began by removing the roofing debris and air-sealing visible leakage points. Preventing air from leaking between the attic and the living spaces of the home helps mitigate energy loss. We then blew in premium, fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches, bringing the attic up to the Energy Star-recommended R38 level.

As a result of the insulation upgrade, this homeowner and her family will enjoy lower heating and cooling costs and more comfortable indoor temperatures year-round for as long as they live in that home.
