Quick Insulation Upgrade from 5 Inches to 14 Inches to R38 with Blown In Fiberglass in Fresno, CA

The homeowner contacted us because she wanted to insulate her attic before the hot Central Valley summer came. She believed her insulation was low because her HVAC system ran constantly, both in summer and winter. When we inspected her attic, we found that she was indeed low, with only about 5 inches of insulation present. We determined that to get her home prepared before summer, we would perform an insulation upgrade.

We began by air-sealing visible leakage points to help prevent air from flowing between the attic and the living spaces of the home. We then blew in 9 inches of fiberglass insulation to bring the attic to an R38 level of protection. 

As a result of the insulation upgrade, the homeowner and her family will enjoy a cooler home during the summer months, a warmer home during winters, and reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 30% for the life of their home.
