Danny had recently added 600 sq. ft. to his home in Ahwahnee and needed to install insulation. He discovered Tyson Energy Solutions from our hundreds of 5-star Google reviews and was impressed. He reached out to us and we were able to come out within a week to add insulation to his home.
When we began, there was literally no insulation present, so we blew in 14 inches of premium fiberglass insulation to bring the home to an R38 level, which is the Energy Star-recommended level for our climate here in the Fresno area.
As a result of the work we performed, the new addition to Danny’s home will be cooler and more comfortable during summer, warmer during winter, and his heating and cooling costs will be reduced by up to 25% for as long as he lives in the home.
The homeowner reached out to Tyson Energy Solutions because he had a new home built and wanted us to insulate his attic. When we began, the attic had no insulation, which is not up to code and would also result in a very uncomfortable home; very hot during the summer and cold during the winter.
We increased the level of insulation in the attic by blowing in premium, Johns Manville fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches. This provided the Energy Star recommended R38 level of insulation. We also sealed holes and gaps in the attic to prevent air leakage between the attic and the living spaces of the home.
As a result, the homeowner will now experience lower heating and cooling costs and a more comfortable home for the life of the house.
Tyson had performed an attic restoration at Henry’s home in Fresno and he was so happy with the work we did, he decided to have us do an attic restoration at his mother’s house in Kerman too. We went out and inspected her attic and found that she only had about 7 inches of insulation present, with dozens of air leakage points. The ducts in her attic were also broken and disintegrating, allowing contaminated air to enter her home through her HVAC system. Henry wanted his mother to enjoy a more comfortable temperature in her home while also reducing her heating and cooling costs.
These are the steps we took to execute the attic restoration in the home:
- we vacuumed out the old insulation and removed the debris from the attic
- we cleaned and sanitized the attic using DSV sanitizer to eliminate irritants, contaminants, and odors
- we air-sealed the attic floor to eliminate air leakage points. This included top plates, recessed lights, registers, and plumbing and wiring penetrations.
- we installed rodent-proof barriers at potential entry points to prevent rodents and other pests from entering the attic.
- we blew in premium fiberglass insulation to an R38 level, bringing the attic to the Energy Star-recommended level for our climate here in the Fresno area.
- we replaced the broken, disintegrating ducts with new, R6 flex ducts.
As a result of the comprehensive work we did for Henry’s mother, she will enjoy the following benefits for as long as she lives in the home:
- a cool, comfortable home during summer and a warm, cozy home during winter
- reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50%
- better indoor air quality
- high resale value of her home should she ever decide to sell it

The homeowner contacted Tyson Energy Solutions because his home was sweltering in the summer, particularly the upstairs. When we inspected his attic, we found that he had old batting insulation, which is not the most efficient for protecting a home from the harsh temperatures of the attic. Because the attic heat was so extreme, we recommended an insulation upgrade and the addition of an an electric gable attic fan to mitigate the heat.
We began by blowing in premium, fiberglass insulation to a height of 17 inches, bringing him up to the Energy Star-recommended level. We also air-sealed visible air leakage points using closed-cell foam. This serves to help in protecting the home from air coming from the hot attic. Lastly, we installed the QuietCool Electric Gable Fan and paired it to the homeowner’s phone.
In the few hours we were at his home, the homeowner expressed that he could already tell the difference in how frequently his air conditioner was having to turn on and the temperature difference upstairs. He and his family will be able to enjoy more comfortable temperatures, reduced heating and cooling costs, and a more efficient HVAC system for as long as they live in that home.
