Dennis reached out to Tyson because he had recently acquired an office space and it was very hot and uncomfortable, despite the air conditioner turning on frequently. We came out and took a look in the attic and found that there was only about 3 inches of fiberglass batting present. Dennis decided that he wanted to do an insulation upgrade to help reduce his heating and cooling costs and keep his office space a comfortable temperature.
We began the upgrade by air-sealing visible leakage points using closed-cell foam. This is done to help prevent airflow between the attic and the living spaces of the office. We then blew in about 11 inches of premium, fiberglass insulation, bringing the attic up to the Energy Star-recommended R38 level.
As a result of the insulation upgrade, Dennis will enjoy a more comfortable temperature year-round and reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 25% for as long as he occupies that office space.
Joseph was looking for an insulation company to come and add insulation in his attic in order to make his home more comfortable and lower his heating and cooling bills. He did a Google search and was impressed by Tyson Energy Solutions and our hundreds of 5-star reviews. He reached out to us to come and inspect his attic, and when we did, we found that his attic was a mess. Not only did he only have about 4 inches of insulation present, but his attic was also littered with debris, which poses a fire hazard, and rodent droppings. We found dozens of air leakage points, so as a result, Joseph decided he wanted an attic restoration performed.
The project was comprised of the following steps:
- We removed the old, contaminated insulation and debris
- We cleaned and sanitized the attic using DSV sanitizer
- We air-sealed all of the leakage points, including top plates, registers, recessed lights, and plumbing and wiring penetrations
- We installed mesh rodent-proof barriers to prevent rodents and other pests from coming into the attic
- We blew in new fiberglass insulation to an R38 level
Because of the comprehensive work we did, Joseph and his family now enjoy the following benefits:
- reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50% for as long as they reside in the home
- a cool, comfortable home in summer and a warm, cozy home in winter
- better indoor air quality
- less dust in the home
- greatly reduced chance of fire spreading due to removal of attic debris
- inability for rodents to enter the attic
- higher home value
Bethany contacted us because she believed her attic insulation was low and she was looking for attic insulation cost. She found multiple insulation companies but was impressed by Tyson being the top-reviewed insulation company in Fresno. We came and inspected her attic and found that Bethany’s attic only had 7 inches of fiberglass insulation present. She decided to add an additional 7 inches on top to bring her attic up to the R38 level recommended by Energy Star.
We placed markers in the attic to show the insulation depth before and after the insulation upgrade. We then blew in an extra 7 inches of fiberglass insulation, taking only 2 hours to complete the job.
Now, Bethany and her family get to enjoy a cooler, more comfortable home during summer, a warmer home in winter, and reduced heating and cooling bills by up to 30% for as long as they live there.
The homeowner called us because he was concerned about his home being hot and uncomfortable and his cooling bills being high during the upcoming summer months. We inspected his attic and found that he only had about 6 inches of old insulation present.
We upgraded the homeowner’s attic to the Energy Star recommended R49 level by increasing his insulation to 18 inches using our blown-in, premium Johns Manville fiberglass insulation. We also air-sealed any openings we saw using closed-cell foam. This was done to prevent air from transferring between the attic and the living spaces of his home. We cleared the soffit vents to ensure improved ventilation of the attic space.
The combination of air sealing and bringing the insulation up to 18 inches will allow this homeowner to experience a more comfortable home and lower heating and cooling bills year-round for the life of the home.
Frank contacted Tyson Energy Solutions because the costs to cool his large house were becoming unmanageable. On top of that, Frank said his home never really felt cool and comfortable. When we checked out his attic, we discovered that he only had about 5-6 inches of old insulation present, with his floor joists visible through the insulation. Since his home was built in 1947 and had been neglected for almost 70 years, we determined that an attic restoration was in order to help Frank achieve his goals.
We began the attic restoration by vacuuming out all of the old insulation and debris. We then used DSV sanitizer to clean and sanitize the attic, eliminating irritants and contaminants. Once the attic was clean, we installed rodent-proof barriers to prevent rodents from entering the attic. We also used closed-cell foam to seal off air leakage points. This includes top plates, registers, wiring and plumbing penetrations, and recessed lights. This helps prevent air from being able to travel between the attic and the home’s living spaces. Lastly, we blew in 14 inches of premium, fiberglass insulation to bring the attic up to the Energy Star-recommended R38 level.
Due to the complete attic restoration, Frank and his family will enjoy a cooler, more comfortable home during summers, a warmer home during winters, better indoor air quality, and reduced heating and cooling costs for as long as they live in their home.
