We did extensive work for Luann and Steve, who we met at the Fresno Home Show. They had been considering getting solar in order to reduce their energy bills until they learned about the numerous benefits of the solutions offered by Tyson. They had us come out to inspect their attic and we found that not only was their insulation low, but their attic was filled with air leakage points. This was contributing to their home being hot and stuffy in the summer and chilly during winter, which was in turn causing higher heating and cooling costs. Luann and Steve decided that they wanted their bills to be lower and also wanted their home to be healthier and more efficient, so they opted for an attic restoration, a whole house fan, and duct cleaning.

We began by sucking out all of their old, dirty insulation. As we cleared the insulation from the attic, we installed a QuietCool Trident 5.5 whole house fan. A whole house fan works by drawing cooler outdoor air throughout the house and then exhausting the hot air from the roof vents in the attic. At the same time that we were installing the fan, we cleaned and sanitized the attic. We then used closed-cell foam to seal up all of the holes, gaps, and cracks in the attic. This includes all the top plates, wiring and plumbing penetrations, registers, and recessed lights. Air-sealing helps mitigates air from transferring between the attic and the home’s living spaces. We also installed rodent-proof barriers in the attic to prevent rodents or other pests from entering and contaminating the newly cleaned space. After this, we blew in 13 inches of new fiberglass insulation. This brought the attic up to the Energy Star-recommended level of R38. The final work we completed was the HVAC duct cleaning. We used compressed air to blow the dust, dirt, and contaminants out of the HVAC ducts, which helped to improve air quality in the home.

As a result of the extensive work we did in the home, Luann and Steve will enjoy numerous benefits:

– reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50-90%

– a warm, cozy home in winter and a cool, comfortable home in summer

– healthier indoor air quality

– less dust in the home

– less reliance on their HVAC system, thereby extending its lifespan

Luann and Steve are holding off on getting solar for now as their bills are so much lower and their home more efficient.

Dan first learned about the benefits of an attic restoration when he received a mailer from Tyson Energy Solutions at his home. He was intrigued at the prospect of making his home healthier, maintaining a comfortable temperature year-round, and being able to offset the cost of the work through savings on his heating and cooling costs. He called us to inspect his attic and we found that he only had about 2 inches of old, dirty insulation present with substantial roofing debris present, which is a fire hazard. In addition, Dan’s HVAC ducts were also old and broken, allowing contaminated air to leak into his home and conditioned air to leak into his attic. Once we showed him the pictures of his attic and ducts and the issues they had, Dan decided to replace all of the ducts and have us perform a full attic restoration.

We began by sucking out all of the old, dirty insulation and replacing the old ducts with new, R-6 flex ducts. Once the attic was bare, we cleaned and sanitized the space with DSV sanitizer. We then ir-sealed the floor of the attic to prevent airflow from occurring between the attic and the home. We also installed rodent-proof barriers to keep rodents and other pests out of the attic. We blew in 13 inches of premium, fiberglass insulation and then built a barrier around the attic access, in order to prevent insulation from falling into the home when the access was opened.

As a result of the comprehensive work we did, Dan will experience the following benefits:

– a cool, comfortable home, free of humidity during summers

– a warm, cozy home during winters

– reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50%, which offsets his monthly cost of having this work done

– improved indoor air quality

– less dust in his home

– a more efficient HVAC system

– a more valuable home should he ever decide to sell it

Shirley contacted Tyson Energy Solutions because she was tired of her high cooling costs during the summer. She was annoyed that despite her cooling bills being so high and her air conditioner running non-stop, her house never felt cool and comfortable. We inspected her attic and discovered the issue: she only had about 3 inches of insulation present and roofing debris was littered throughout. We determined that we needed to clean up the roofing debris and perform and insulation upgrade in order to help her with her home’s comfort and energy inefficiency.

We began by removing the debris so that we could add insulation to bring her up to an R38 level, the Energy Star-recommended level for our climate. We also air-sealed visible leakage points to help prevent the flow of air between her attic and her home’s living spaces. We then blew in fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches.

As a result of our insulation upgrade, Shirley now enjoys a cooler, more comfortable home during summer, a warmer home during winter, and reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 30% for the life of her home.

Whitney contacted us because she was looking for more insulation in her attic. She wanted to reduce her heating and cooling costs and help her home maintain a comfortable temperature. She discovered us through our hundreds of 5-star Google reviews and gave us a call. When we came out to inspect her attic, we found that she only had 3 inches of old, contaminated cellulose insulation present, and dozens of air leakage points. Whitney decided to get a comprehensive attic restoration done to help her achieve her goals.

We took the following steps to execute the attic restoration in Whitney’s home:

  1. vacuumed out old insulation
  2. cleaned and sanitized the attic to remove odors and contaminants
  3. air-sealed leakage points such as top plates, registers, recessed lights, and wiring and plumbing penetrations
  4. installed rodent-proof barriers to prevent rodents and other pests from entering the attic
  5. blew in new fiberglass insulation to an R38 level, bringing the attic to the Energy Star-recommended level for our climate

As a result of the thorough work we did in Whitney’s attic, she and her family will now enjoy the following benefits for as long as they reside there:

  1. reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50%
  2. less dust in the home
  3. better indoor air quality
  4. a warm, cozy home in winter and cool, comfortable home in summer

The homeowner contacted us because his house was so warm during the summer, he initially thought there was an issue with his air conditioner. Upon being told that there was nothing wrong with his HVAC unit, he called us to come out and look at his insulation. We inspected his attic and discovered that his insulation was at only about 7 inches, half of the Energy Star recommendation. We decided that an insulation upgrade would be just what he needed to get his home feeling comfortable.

We started by air-sealing visible air leakage points to help prevent air from moving between his attic and his home’s living spaces. Next, we blew in premium, fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches to bring his attic to the R38 level of protection.

Because of the insulation upgrade, not only will the homeowner and his family enjoy a more comfortable temperature in their home, but also reduced heating and cooling bills, and an HVAC system that is able to more effectively keep the house cool in the summers and warm in the winters.
