The homeowner contacted us because he recently purchased a home and it felt very hot and uncomfortable in the summer heat, even with the air conditioner running on full blast. Upon inspection of his attic, we found that his attic contained less than 3 inches of insulation, well below the current standards. We determined that we needed to perform an insulation upgrade in order to make his home more comfortable and keep his cooling bills low during the intense Central Valley summers.
We increased the level of insulation in the attic by blowing in premium, Johns Manville fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches. This provided the Energy Star recommended R38 level of insulation. We also sealed holes and gaps in the attic to prevent air leakage between the attic and the living spaces of the home.
As a result of the insulation upgrade, this homeowner will enjoy a more comfortable home and lower heating and cooling costs for the life of his home.
Hailey contacted us because her home was uncomfortably hot during the summers and cold during winters. She believed the issue had to due with her insulation but had never been up in her attic. She was desperate to improve her home’s comfort prior to the summer. We came out and inspected her attic and found that she had about 4 inches of old insulation, which was not sufficient to keep her house cool. As a result, her air conditioner was having to work overtime to help compensate, leading to extremely high cooling bills. We determined that an insulation upgrade and whole house fan would solve these issues for her.
We began by identifying the ideal spot to place the QuietCool Trident 4.8 and installed it in that location. We then air-sealed visible air leakage points using closed-cell foam to help prevent the flow of air between the home’s living spaces and the attic. Lastly, we blew in fiberglass insulation to bring Hailey’s home to R38 level, or 14 inches.
As a result of the insulation upgrade and whole house fan installation, Hailey and her family will enjoy a cooler, more comfortable home, and reduced cooling costs by up to 90%. Their home will also be more comfortable in winter, and the resale value of their home may be increased because of these upgrades.
The homeowner contacted us because his home was uncomfortably warm and his air conditioner was running constantly, causing his cooling bills to be high. He wanted to address the issue with his insulation to help his home retain the conditioned air while also reducing his cooling costs. When we inspected his attic, we found that it only had about 3 inches of old, dirty insulation. This is well below the Energy Star-recommended R38 level, the minimum requirement for our climate. We determined that a comprehensive attic restoration was best to help this homeowner achieve his goals.
We began by vacuuming out all of the old, contaminated insulation. Once the attic was bare, we cleaned and sanitized the entire space using DSV sanitizer, which eliminates contaminants and irritants. We then located all holes, gaps, and cracks and air-sealed them using closed-cell foam. This included all recessed lights, registers, top plates, and plumbing and wiring penetrations. We also installed rodent-proof barriers at any potential entry points in order to prevent rodents and other pests from entering the attic. Once the attic was sealed, we blew in premium, fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches, or R38 protection.
As a result of our comprehensive attic restoration, this homeowner and his family will enjoy reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50%, a cooler home in summer, a warmer home in winter, and better indoor air quality for as long as they live in their home.
Hailey contacted Tyson Energy Solutions after we had come out and upgraded her attic insulation for her. She was so pleased with the work that we did that she trusted us to install a whole house fan to further cool her home. We already knew that there was room to install a whole house fan as we had already been in her attic before.
We came out and found the ideal location in her attic to install the QuietCool Trident 4.8. We made sure not to trample or disturb the insulation that we had already installed. After we got her whole house fan set up, we showed Hailey how to use the wireless, 2-speed remote with a timer and explained when to use the fan for the best results.
As a result of the whole house fan installation, and because of the insulation upgrade we already performed, Hailey will enjoy an immediately cooler home during the summer by up to 10 degrees, as well as reduced cooling costs during the summer by up to 90%. She can enjoy these benefits worry-free for at least the next 15 years, which is the length of the QuietCool manufacturer’s warranty.
Matthew reached out to us because his home was hot and stuffy and he wanted to make it more comfortable and also reduce his monthly cooling costs. We came out and took a look at his attic and discovered that he only had about 4 inches of insulation present. Matthew decided to have us do an insulation upgrade to help achieve his goals.
We began by air-sealing visible leakage points. This helps prevent the flow of air between the attic and the home’s living spaces. We then blew in 9 inches of premium, fiberglass insulation to bring the attic to an R38 level, the recommended level for our climate.
As a result of the work we performed, Matthew home will be cooler and more comfortable during the summer months, warmer during winter, and he will enjoy reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 30% for as long as he lives in that home.
