Mollie contacted Tyson Energy Solutions because her home was unable to keep the cool air produced by her air conditioner in the house. She suspected that it was leaking out of the house because her HVAC system was constantly running and yet, always felt hot. She was looking to reduce her cooling costs while also making her home feel more comfortable. When we inspected her attic, we found that she only had about 3-4 inches of insulation present. We determined that an attic restoration was the best option for her to achieve her objectives.
We started off by removing all of the old, dirty insulation from the attic. Once the attic was bare, we cleaned and sanitized the attic using DSV sanitizer to eliminate contaminants and irritants. Once the attic had been sanitized, we meticulously air-sealed the attic using closed-cell foam in order to prevent air from traveling between the attic and the living spaces of the home. This included all top plates, registers, recessed lights, and wiring and plumbing penetrations. The last step was blowing in 14 inches of premium, fiberglass insulation, bringing the attic to the Energy Star-recommended R38 level.
As a result of the comprehensive attic restoration that we performed, Mollie and her family will enjoy a cooler, more comfortable home during summers, warmer temperatures in winter, reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50%, and better indoor air quality for as long as they live in the house.
Antonio contacted us because he had just purchased a home and he immediately noticed that it was incredibly hot and stuffy during the intense heat of the Central Valley summer. At first, he thought the issue was his HVAC system, but he’d had an HVAC technician inspect his system and he found no problems. He mentioned that his insulation was low, so Antonio called Tyson. We came out and took a look in his attic and found that the home only had about 3 inches of insulation present. This was the root cause of his home’s temperature discomfort. We decided that an attic restoration was needed to help Antonio achieve his goals of a cool, comfortable home and also reduced cooling costs.
We began by sucking out all of the old, contaminated insulation and sanitizing the attic with DSV sanitizer. We then meticulously air-sealed all leakage points. This included all top plates, registers, recessed lights, and wiring and plumbing penetrations. This is done to prevent airflow between the attic and the home’s living spaces. We also installed rodent-proof barriers in the attic to prevent rodents and other pests from entering. Lastly, we blew in 14 inches of fiberglass insulation to bring the attic to the Energy Star-recommended R38 level of protection from heat transfer.
As a result of the thorough attic restoration we completed, Antonion now enjoys a cool, comfortable home in summer, a warm, cozy home in winter, better indoor air quality, and reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50% for as long as he lives in that home.
