The homeowner reached out to Tyson Energy Solutions because he had a new home built and wanted us to insulate his attic. When we began, the attic had no insulation, which is not up to code and would also result in a very uncomfortable home; very hot during the summer and cold during the winter.
We increased the level of insulation in the attic by blowing in premium, Johns Manville fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches. This provided the Energy Star recommended R38 level of insulation. We also sealed holes and gaps in the attic to prevent air leakage between the attic and the living spaces of the home.
As a result, the homeowner will now experience lower heating and cooling costs and a more comfortable home for the life of the house.
Tyson had performed an attic restoration at Henry's home in Fresno and he was so happy with the work we did, he decided to have us do an attic restoration at his mother's house in Kerman too. We went out and inspected her attic and found that she only had about 7 inches of insulation present, with dozens of air leakage points. The ducts in her attic were also broken and disintegrating, allowing contaminated air to enter her home through her HVAC system. Henry wanted his mother to enjoy a more comfortable temperature in her home while also reducing her heating and cooling costs.
These are the steps we took to execute the attic restoration in the home:
1) we vacuumed out the old insulation and removed the debris from the attic.
2) we cleaned and sanitized the attic using DSV sanitizer to eliminate irritants, contaminants, and odors
3) we air-sealed the attic floor to eliminate air leakage points. This included top plates, recessed lights, registers, and plumbing and wiring penetrations.
4) we installed rodent-proof barriers at potential entry points to prevent rodents and other pests from entering the attic.
5) we blew in premium fiberglass insulation to an R38 level, bringing the attic to the Energy Star-recommended level for our climate here in the Fresno area.
6) we replaced the broken, disintegrating ducts with new, R6 flex ducts.
As a result of the comprehensive work we did for Henry's mother, she will enjoy the following benefits for as long as she lives in the home:
1) a cool, comfortable home during summer and a warm, cozy home during winter
2) reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50%
3) better indoor air quality
4) high resale value of her home should she ever decide to sell it
Thomas contacted us because his house was hot and uncomfortable. He had recently had his HVAC system inspected and knew that it was working fine, so he called Tyson Energy Solutions to come check his attic. Upon inspection, we found that Thomas's attic was severely low, with less than 4 inches of old, dirty insulation. It was no wonder he thought his air conditioner was broken since there was no way it could cool his home with insulation that low.
We upgraded his insulation up to R38 level, or 14 inches, by blowing in premium, fiberglass insulation. We sealed any visible air leakage points as an additional layer of protection.
As a result of his insulation upgrade, Thomas's home is now much more comfortable and he will be able to enjoy lower heating and cooling bills for the life of his home!
Darcey called us because summer had just ended and she had spent the last few months uncomfortably hot in her home. At first, she thought the issue was her air conditioner, but after the HVAC technician came out, he said there was nothing wrong with her system. That's when she contacted Tyson Energy Solutions. We came out and inspected her attic and found that she was severely low on insulation, with only about 4-5 inches. In order to make her home more comfortable year-round, we decided to upgrade her home to the Energy Star recommended 14 inches.
We air-sealed visible air leakage spots using closed-cell foam and then blew in premium fiberglass insulation to a depth of 14 inches.
Darcey said that she could feel almost an immediate difference in how frequently her air conditioner was coming on and running, and she stated that her house felt cooler for longer. She is certain to experience a more comfortable house during all seasons as well as reduced heating and cooling costs for as long as she lives in the home.
The owner of this 3200 sq. ft. home in Turlock, CA called Tyson Energy Solutions because the air conditioning costs in his large home were sky-high. He also complained that his home felt warm, especially during the summer months. Upon inspection of his attic, we found that he had less than three inches of old, cellulose insulation in his home.
We upgraded the homeowner's attic to the Energy Star recommended R49 level by increasing his insulation to 18 inches using our blown-in, premium Johns Manville fiberglass insulation. We also air-sealed any openings we saw using closed-cell foam. This was done to prevent air from transferring between the attic and the living spaces of her home. We cleared the soffit vents to ensure improved ventilation of the attic space.
We also installed a QuietCool Smart Gable Attic Fan 3.0. The fan can be manually controlled through an app on the homeowner's phone or set to turn on and off when varying temperature and humidity conditions are present. This ensures the greatest amount of both flexibility and control for the homeowner.
Now this homeowner and his children get to enjoy a cooler, more comfortable home during the summer as well as reduced cooling and heating costs all year round.
