Jose contacted Tyson Energy Solutions because he felt that his home was not staying warm during the winter and not staying cool during the summer. With rising energy costs, Jose was eager to address the problem. We came out and examined his attic and found that he had less than 6 inches of insulation. In some areas, there were bare spots, which led to certain areas of his home becoming hotter or colder than others. We determined that a comprehensive attic restoration was the best solution to address Jose's concerns.

We began by removing all of the old insulation, then cleaning and sanitizing the attic with DSV sanitizer. This serves to eliminate microbes and contaminants in the attic and improves indoor air quality. We then meticulously air-sealed the attic, including the recessed lighting, wiring and plumbing penetrations, and registers. We also installed rodent-proof barriers at potential entry points in order to keep rodents and other animals from entering the space. Once the attic was sealed, we blew in premium, Johns Manville fiberglass insulation to R38 level, or 14 inches, according to Energy Star recommendations. We took care not to block any of the attic vents, in order to preserve proper ventilation.

As a result of our complete attic restoration, not only will Jose and his family experience a more comfortable and healthier home, but they will also enjoy reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 20% for as long as they live there.

For this special project, we used blown-in premium fiberglass insulation for an 1130 sq. ft. attic in order to keep the home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. At the homeowner's request, we also added batting insulation to the vaulted ceiling to a value of R30, which will help this unique home to keep comfortable even in extreme temperatures. Batting insulation was also added to exterior and interior walls. Overall, this home is now going to enjoy lower heating and cooling costs and more comfort year-round!

The homeowner contacted Tyson Energy Solutions because his home was sweltering in the summer, particularly the upstairs. When we inspected his attic, we found that he had old batting insulation, which is not the most efficient for protecting a home from the harsh temperatures of the attic. Because the attic heat was so extreme, we recommended an insulation upgrade and the addition of an an electric gable attic fan to mitigate the heat.

We began by blowing in premium, fiberglass insulation to a height of 17 inches, bringing him up to the Energy Star-recommended level. We also air-sealed visible air leakage points using closed-cell foam. This serves to help in protecting the home from air coming from the hot attic. Lastly, we installed the QuietCool Electric Gable Fan and paired it to the homeowner's phone.

In the few hours we were at his home, the homeowner expressed that he could already tell the difference in how frequently his air conditioner was having to turn on and the temperature difference upstairs. He and his family will be able to enjoy more comfortable temperatures, reduced heating and cooling costs, and a more efficient HVAC system for as long as they live in that home.

Donald contacted us looking for a solution to his high cooling costs and a home that felt hot and stuffy. Although his home was built in 2005, when we inspected his attic, we found that Donald's attic had only about 5 inches of insulation present and was bare in many spots. In addition, another company had installed a gable fan for him but had not properly blocked off the gable vent, rendering the fan useless. We determined that an insulation upgrade and blocking off the vent around the gable fan would best help Donald achieve his goals of reducing his cooling costs and making his home more comfortable.

We began by blocking off the gable vent around the fan, ensuring it could properly ventilate the attic's heat. We then air-sealed visible leakage points with closed-cell foam, helping to mitigate the air flow between the attic and the living spaces of the home. Lastly, we blew in premium, fiberglass insulation to an R38 level, bringing the attic to the Energy Star-recommended level.

As a result of the work we performed, Donald and his family will enjoy a cool, comfortable home during the summer, a warmer home in winter, and reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 30% for as long as they live in the home.
