The homeowner contacted us because she wanted to insulate her attic before the hot Central Valley summer came. She believed her insulation was low because her HVAC system ran constantly, both in summer and winter. When we inspected her attic, we found that she was indeed low, with only about 5 inches of insulation present. We determined that to get her home prepared before summer, we would perform an insulation upgrade.

We began by air-sealing visible leakage points to help prevent air from flowing between the attic and the living spaces of the home. We then blew in 9 inches of fiberglass insulation to bring the attic to an R38 level of protection.

The homeowner contacted us because their home was constantly hot and uncomfortable during the summer. In fact, they'd had an HVAC repair technician come out to service their air conditioner, thinking that was the issue. The HVAC technician let the homeowner know that their unit was operating normally, but their insulation was low. When we came out and took a look for ourselves, we found this was indeed the case. The attic had only about 3-4 inches of old insulation present. We determined that upgrading the insulation to an R38 level (14 inches of fiberglass insulation) was necessary to help the homeowner achieve her goals of keeping her home cool while also reducing her cooling costs.

We began by air-sealing visible leakage points with closed-cell foam. This helps to prevent air from traveling between the living spaces of the home and the attic. We then blew in premium, fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches.

As a result of the work we performed, the homeowner now enjoys a cool, comfortable home during the summer, a warmer home during the winter, and lower heating and cooling costs by up to 30% for as long as she lives in that house.

Francis contacted us because his two-story home felt extremely hot and uncomfortable upstairs. Because the bedrooms were all upstairs, Francis and his family had to run their air conditioner constantly just to be comfortable enough to sleep at night. In doing this, their cooling bills were astronomically high. We began by sucking out all of the old insulation. We then cleaned and sanitized the attic using DSV sanitizer, eliminating contaminants and irritants from the space. We then carefully air-sealed all leakage points to help prevent air from traveling between the attic and the living spaces of the home. At this time, we also installed rodent-proof barriers to prevent rodents and other pests from entering the space. Lastly, we blew in fiberglass insulation to an R38 level, bringing the attic up to the Energy Star-recommended level.

As a result of the comprehensive attic restoration we performed, Francis and his family now experience a cooler, comfortable home during the summer months, a warmer home during winter, better indoor air quality, and reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50% for as long as they remain in that home.
